Last stop of our itinerary in South America: Chile in October. We will continue our journey in Patagonia through the Chilean side with a trek around the famous Torres del Paine. We will conclude our voyage in Santiago from where we will fly to New Zealand.
After 5 months travelling through South America by bus, it’s a complete different means of transportation that awaits us in New Zealand: we will ride around in our own Van for 3 weeks. Objective: drive from Auckland to Christchurch on the left side of the road, with a stick shift, the steering wheel on the right AND without running over anyone…Along the way, a hike at the Tongariro National Park, a stopover in Wellington to reach New Zealand’s South Island, famous for its breathtaking landscapes, like the Mount Cook.
We will head to Australia at the end of November for approximately a month and a half, where, again, we will rent a Van. Starting in Melbourne we will drive along the Great Ocean Road before heading to the Australian outback and say hi to the big rock Uluru (with a stopover at the Kangaroo sanctuary for Maider). Last but not least, the East coast from the Great Barrier Reef to Sydney to bring this journey to a spectacular close for the New Year!
Our adventure in Asia will start beginning of January with a first stop in Thailand: white sand beaches in Koh Tao and Koh Lanta, Thai cooking classes and massages in Chiang Mai, and our first motorcycle road trip.
After a month in Thailand, we will make our way to Laos from the North and we will start our journey by a cruise on the Mekong River. A second motorcycle adventure around Thakhek and sunbathing and swimming at the 4,000 Islands to end this trip in Laos.
In March, we will visit Cambodia with a first stop at the magnificent Temples of Angkor. A layover at Koh Rong for its white beaches and turquoise waters, a traditional dance show in Phnom Penh and a short stay at the Mondolkiri Elephant & Wildlife Sanctuary will wrap up our voyage in Cambodia.
Last destination: Vietnam. Starting in Ho Chi Minh where we will try to survive through the thousands of motorbikes zipping through the city; a must-stop in Hoi An, the tailor-made paradise; and to conclude, a visit of the world heritage seascape, Halong Bay with a 2-day cruise.
It’s in May 2019 that our trip around the world will come to an end with a short stopover in Dubai on our way back.
